Blackwake hacks blackwake trainer3/10/2024 ![]() One problem that a lot of people don't realize is the tag system. Stacking isn't always avoidable (the woes of party tags) Then moderators/admins will need to step in and punish the competitive person for being a massive baby about the whole thing and then you weaken the core player base. This is going to make the hyper competitive person even more frustrated and then will start raging at the other (newer) captains making it a miserable experience for everyone. So you end up with the most competitive (and possibly skilled) players being grouped up with the least skilled players. Not to mention implementing ELO just breeds toxicity and people will rage even more when losing because their skill rating will go down. Now you're looking at implementing it for 27 player teams? This is further complicated by the importance of the captain role, so how do to properly weight the impact of a specific captain and the competency of his crew? I agree that it'd be awesome to have something like that, but we're talking about systems that would be so unbelievably complex, they'd inevitably end up making teams "stacked" because it can't truly determine if a loss is due to that player's lack of skill, their crew's lack of following orders, or the other captains not being competent. Yes, modified versions of this get extended to other games (like overwatch), but these systems are not foolproof and are flawed even in their implementation for 5 player teams. You cannot use anything like ELO to balance as that is designed for 2 player games. There have been plenty of matches that I've been in where the number of elites were greatly favoring a team that lost.īut why not use an ELO or other buzzword ranking system? The crew plays a role as well, but a coordinated group of skilled captains will almost always out-compete a team with less skilled captains. ![]() And ultimately, games are decided by the most skilled captains on a team and their ability to work together. There are plenty of silver players that are WAY better captains than elites. But it's really not as simple as just saying "make the number of elites even". In short, CC does try to keep teams balanced as much as possible, or if a ship does end up having a lot of elites, they tend to not play as seriously. Here is a summary of the discussions, metrics and considerations. This is going to be a long response because this has been discussed to death many different places, but rarely summarized.
